Needy immigrants get Thanksgiving help

Thanks to several generous donations, CEUS volunteers handed out food packets to more than 100 immigrants the day before Thanksgiving Day to help tide them over the holiday period.

Many immigrants are struggling to get by even more than in recent months as the pandemic worsens. CEUS gave food to families that we know are in serious need, due to their economic or immigration situation. Food recipient Luis Olivares told CEUS that he hadn’t worked for four months and couldn’t pay his rent. “This will help my family a lot,” he said, of the donation.

CEUS thanks all the generous donors of food and money for the distribution. They included Goya Foods, Shoprite, Fiesta Supermarket, Trader Joe’s and CEUS supporters.
