CEUS ESL Classes Go Online

CEUS entered a new era on Oct. 11, starting its first full semester of English As A Second Language (ESL) classes taught online. The organization is offering a ten-week semester of classes for Level 1 and Level 2 students, taught through Zoom.

The initiative follows a successful five-week pilot program of classes in the summer, which showed the benefits of online instruction. CEUS has taught English and Spanish literacy for more than 20 years, usually with eight or nine classes at our Union City offices each Sunday. But the CEUS board has concluded that while community members continue to need the classes, the threat of COVID-19 has made it impossible to safely provide in-person instruction for now.
